That's if you choose to engage with it, of course, as the scanning system provides a mountain of details about the world that are entirely optional to read. Tallon IV delivers an excellent atmosphere throughout each of its areas, no doubt helped by the game's superb sound design, and the story paints a somber tone of a long dead civilization, the job of finishing what they started falling to you. or at least, that was until the remaster came along looking so beautiful that I'd probably find it hard to ever go back to the original if I played it. It delivers a level of immersion unmatched by any other game of the generation, and I would argue still looks great today. That statement still holds true today.ฤก2h 59m Played Metroid Prime was undoubtedly a game ahead of its time. I recall reading a review by EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) that stated this game feels like it was made in the future. An incredible game and arguably the Gamecube's greatest game. They incrementally make you stronger in preparation for the final boss fight. The game world is chock full of secrets, as you collect more power ups, new areas become accessible granting you access to more collectibles that are more than just window dressing. Boss fights are creatively designed and are fun to discover how to defeat them. The feeling of being alone in an alien environment is perfectly encapsulated in this game. It's an adventure platformer, a journey that you go through alone. The gameplay was also innovative, at first glance it looks like an FPS but as you take control you immediately realize it's more than just an FPS. There are very few games that are as transportive as Metroid Prime, I was caught into its world and I couldn't be happier. All this is complemented by the atmospheric music composed by Kenji Yamamoto which adds depth and emotion to the experience. The graphics for its time was state of the art and it all ran at a smooth 60 frames per second and this was in 2002. From lush green natural to ruins, snowy tundras, lava levels and more. Oh boy was I in for a treat, the game is set in the planet Tallon IV, and the environments created by Retro Studios are varied and interesting. This was my first Metroid game, I borrowed it from a friend so many years ago on the Gamecube not knowing what to expect.
